19/9/07 US and VN discuss Information Technology and CommunicationMore than 80 Vietnamese and American IT companies attended the US-VN Trading, IT, and Communication Forum in Hanoi Tuesday.
Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, and Michael Michalak, US Ambassador to Vietnam, commenced the forum.
Participants said the scale and capacity of Vietnamese IT and Communication industry were limited when compared to the other developing countries despite the speedy development thus far.
Therefore, FDI is encouraging capital investment to mobilize technological resources and to modernize national infra-structure.
Jamie P.Estrada, US Secretary of Trade’s Deputy Assistant, also added that the forum is successful in presenting new policies and regulations concerning foreign IT and communication firms; approaches to best explore the US market; and cooperation and investment opportunities for VN firms.
