12/9/07 Microsoft, Hanoi Technology University to open research centreA memorandum of understanding on the establishment of an IT research centre was signed by Microsoft and the Hanoi University of Technology on September 11.
Under this MoU, initiatives will be developed to promote cooperation projects in the fields of information technology and software solution research and development with the participation of members and partners of the Hanoi University of Technology. This is a further step of cooperation between the two sides based on previous cooperation.
The establishment of this research centre at the Hanoi University of Technology will regularise software products used in teaching, training and management, promote IT training programmes through the use of teaching materials, curricula, and software of Microsoft, as well as allow students to acquire Microsoft certificates at soft prices and to connect with enterprises.
In addition, IT development initiatives between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and Microsoft will be considered for implementation at the Hanoi University of Technology in the future.
The chief representative of Microsoft Vietnam expressed his pleasure about this cooperation. He said that in his recent meeting with Bill Gates, Microsoft Chairman, Mr. Gates recalled his impression about students of the Hanoi University of Technology at his presentation in April 2006. Mr. Gates said he had never met students so enthusiastic and eager for study like students at the Hanoi University of Technology.
Mr. Desriac also said that he realised the potentials of Vietnam when he met with Vietnamese government officials, businessmen, especially those who work in the software industry and Vietnamese students. Vietnam has a young workforce and that is the reason for Microsoft to set up its training and research centre in Vietnam.
Information about the scale, the time of operation and the value of this centre has not been revealed yet.
