09/11/07 Japan seeks IT human resources from Vietnam“Human resources in IT cooperation between Japan and Vietnam” will be one of the main topics of Japan ICT Day 2007 in Hanoi on November 13-14.
According to Pham Tan Cong, Secretary General of the Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa), the Japanese software market is huge, worth around US$117 billion. But Japanese IT companies are always short of labour and they are seeking assistance from Vietnam.
“Japan’s embedded system software industry currently lacks around 70,000 engineers. So the cooperation potential between Vietnam and Japan is great. But it depends on Vietnam’s ability in IT human resource supply,” Cong said.
According to a Vinasa official, the workshop will be a chance for Japanese IT firms to express their requirements and expectations for Vietnamese human resources and a chance for Vietnamese partners to testify to their ability to fulfill the conditions.
At this workshop, Vinasa will present its plan to build a standard system to evaluate IT human resources meeting standardised human resources systems of the world and Japan.
Japan ICT Day is an annual event held by Vinasa and the Vinasa-Japan Cooperation Club (VJC), under the patronage of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.
More than 50 IT companies, some universities, related ministries and agencies of Vietnam and Japan will take part in this event.
